Florida State Standard SS.912.A.3.7: Compare the experience of European immigrants in the east to that of Asian immigrants in the west (the Chinese Exclusion Act, Gentlemen’s Agreement with Japan).

Experience the exciting and stressful process of immigrating to the United States of America after the turn of the century. Compare the experiences of an Italian immigrant entering the United States through Ellis Island and a Chinese Immigrant passing through Angel Island.

Welcome to America Student Choice Adventure

The Challenge: Successfully immigrate to the United States

In this adventure, students will attempt to immigrate to the United States as either an Italian or Chinese National. They will encounter some of the challenges and problems faced by immigrants just after the turn of the century.

Students should work through both the Italian and Chinese storylines before moving on to the escape room. Alternatively, students can work in pairs, each completing one of the storylines, then moving on to solve the escape room.
